Scientific Solution

My Solution to help and protect Sun bear is to build a Biology reserve. Biology reserve is a conservation that is build aiming to protect the endanger species from extinction and other type of animal that have been impact by human. The special thing about Biology reserve is that before they build it they need to choose a type of species that they are building the reserve for. Then they will allow a group of scientist to come and research about that animal so they can understand the habitat and the condition of the animal. The important aim is to make the conservation feel like the natural habitat as possible.

My Solution

Location

The Biology reserve will build the reserve somewhere in Southeast Asia because that is where the original habitat is located. The first reason of picking that place is because it is where the Sun bear become endanger, so it really make sense to take some action to safe the Sun Bear and increase the population back to normal. The second reason is that since southeast Asia is where they life it is reasonable for the scientist to make the reserve as much similar to the natural habitat in the wild. If the Biology reserve is build very similar to the Sun bear natural habitat it would be easier for the animal to go back to the natural habitat and surive a normal life. The most suitable place in Southest asia to build the reserve in is Borneo island because Borneo island is the only place that have the most Sun bear population, which mean that right know the habitat over their is still good that why there is still a lot of Sun bear population living over there.

Area needed for the reserve

The area for the Sun bear reserve need to be around 58 hectare or bigger but it can be smaller if we reduce the amount of Sun bear that is living inside the reserve. The first reason is that the Sun bear habitat need to be this big is because they need to have enough place to live, especially if they have a smaller space it is harder to live since they need to fight for food against other Sun bear. If they are hunting for the same kind of prey in the same area. The second reason is that the Sun bears can reproduce more Sun bear cubs. Since the place is no too big or too small it have made it easy for them to find each other inside the reserve and start breeding. Whch mean that the scientist have to calculate very well to see how much space the Sun bear need so it is easier for their life and make sure that their enough food source around them. The total area is 58 hectace and it is divided into two section the first section is where the bear live, the second section is where the zookeeper, veterinary and nutritionist live. The first section is 55 hectace and in this section it is where the Sun bear live, which mean that their is a lot of tree, fruit and other thing that the Sun bear can eat. They also have a river that flow through the midddle of the area. Scientist decide to have all of these stuff in this area so we can maintain a natural habitat for the animal. The second section only have an area of 3 hectace since human don't need as much place as Sun bear.

Amount of Sun bear allow in the reserve with the size above

The average size of the reserve that I have been taking about above can give home to around 52 Sun bear. We can only fit this much amount of Sun bear because we need to have enought place for the Sun bear to live just like their natural habitat. The second think is that the place can not be bigger than this if we have the same amount of Sun bear. The reason is because we need the Sun bear to live a little bit closer together so it is easier for them to reproduce. If the Sun bear start to reproduce a lot more Sun bear cubs than the population will slowly increase.

Reserve Aim for Sun bear to do

The biggest aim that this Sun bear reserve have is that they want the animal to have a safe environment that is really close to their natural habitat so when the animal is big enough or strong enough they can put the Sun bear back into the wild. Most of the sun bear that are living inside the reserve are found caputure inside cages, pet trade and sold in the black market for different use. This mean that if the Sun bear are injure the reserve will give the Sun bear a medical treatment and try to make the Sun bear become as strong as before. The injuries that the sun bear mostly have are claw, teeth and eyesight problem. After that they will put the Sun bear together with other Sun bear so they can repoduce. Finally the Sun bear are release back into the wild, if they think that the Sun bear is capable to live in the wild. The Sun bear that is incapable to go back and live in the wild is mostly the one that have been in captivity (in prison) for too long. We need to do these step because we want to increase the population of Sun bear and make sure that this animal is not in a risk of extinction anymore.

How long should Sun bear stay in the reserve?

Their is no specific time for Sun bear to stay in the reserve instead it depend on the time each bear need to recover from different injuries and get use to their life back into the wild. They need to train the Sun bear first inside the enviroment that is close enough to the Sun bear habitat which is the reserve. When the people think that the Sun bear is suitable to go back into the forest they will be realsea into the wild and if the Sun bear is not capable to go back into the wild they have to stay in the reserve for their whole life time. Overall it depend on the time each bear need to recover.

What they do in the reserve?

The Sun bear that live inside the reserve will be treated as close as possible to their natural habitat. The thing that the Sun bear is doing inside the reserve is that they need to learn how to get use to living inside their normal habitat because some of the Sun bears have been put in cage for a really long time. Eventually they will start to change their life style. The reserve is also a place where the Sun bear get special medical treatment by having a veterinary who will cure and sickness or injuries. This show that all of the Sun bear that is living inside the reserve are all suppose to be healthy. All of the Sun bear in the reserve need to reproduce first before they can be realize back into the wild. While this happen the baby start to grow and when the Sun bear cubs is big enough to live on it own they are free back into the wild. All of the Sun bear is living in a safe and natural habitat that have been protect by different danger such as hunter. The thing that help to protect the Sun bears is all of the fence that is around the reserve. Overall, the reserve is a safe and protected place for the Sun bear to live.
